The landscape of the transgender experience is obviously very different for someone who is on the periphery of the individual who is suffering from the conflict of gender identity. Yet even for those loving individuals who are close to the one suffering, the impact is significant and so are the challenges. If you are one of those individuals—a parent, a caring family member, a friend, a spiritual advisor, or a caring adult in any capacity, you are impacted too. In both the shifting dynamic of the individual’s identity struggle, and also in your desire to support the one you love, you are directly affected as you seek to help them see clearly and make the best decisions.
